My four years of college education will come to a conclusion in less than a month. Kinda bizarre. I look back at the guy who lived on the fourth floor of Daniel South and he’s a very different guy than the one that’s about to move out of Starlite 7 [the main difference most likely being facial hair]. There’s, however, still much to be learned.

I’ve decided to move back home for the summer and work with the youth group at my home church. It’ll be a good time to serve, take a breather, and seek some direction for my life. After that, the sky is the limit. I wouldn’t be opposed to bumming around the world for a while. A lot of thoughts were birthing in my mind as this semester began. But they were quickly overshadowed by the demands of formal education. I think time and space would prove beneficial.

I echo with Paul: “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

Tonight, the coldness of bare feet on a moonlit path woke me from a seemingly endless, yet barely three night, slumber. I found myself looking up at a sky flooded with stars, assured of a coming restoration.

God, who for our redemption didst give thine only-begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by his glorious resurrection hast delivered us from the power of our enemy: Grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection.

Amen.

Something about walking through the rain today was very renewing.

The clock on this computer is ten minutes slow and it almost made me late to something for the 3rd time. But I’m quick. I finally see through its deceptive front.

Gotta run, more soon.

Tonight I jammed my finger playing basketball. But what else should I expect as a music major dabbling in the realm of athletics? Nonetheless, fun was had by all.

I just did something I don’t usually do. I read through a lot of my old blog posts. It wasn’t as scary as I had thought it would be. I do the same thing with journals. I never go back and read what I write.

I wish the impending closure of something wasn’t necessary to make one think about how that closure is being/has been approached.

There is a pile of clothes neighboring my bed. That being said, I now retire.

Gottes Segen.

Some day I feel like it’s impossible for me to connect with anyone. As a result I feel like people think I’m blowing them off, which is far from my intention. If this has been your perception, please forgive me.

Cynicism takes little to no effort. But one must dream and toil to implement practical remedies for those things which are criticized.

I’m noticing that I walk faster around here. It could be because of the cold weather, but maybe not.

In nerdy news, my Fotobook plugin for importing Facebook photo galleries into Wordpress has been downloaded 1210 times since I released it 2 months ago.

Shalom.

The man who woke up today at 8:00 was a completely different man than the one who’s been waking up at noon the last week. I think I like the former better.

Every convenience we enjoy and every dollar we save costs something. I’m convinced more and more with every day that it’s not worth it.

“The lives of the thirty thousand children who die of starvation each day is like six September 11ths every single day, a silent tsunami that happens every week.”

Hmm.

Every year as this season rolls around I usually give in to the Christmas spirit and end up recording a song or two. Here are the songs I’ve recorded the last few years. A few of them have been up on my music player, but ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’ is right off the reel.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

The Christmas Song

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Oh, and I also added a few photo albums of pictures that I took for my photography class in Austria.

Merry Christmas!

After not touching my face with any sort of sharp object for almost two months, I am finally realizing that things are getting a bit out of control. Mom the guy standing in the airport on the 17th that looks like he’s been living in the mountains for two months is me. Don’t be scared, you can take me home.

A few short lists before my return:

Things I will miss:
• Being able to ride a bicycle anywhere
• Sunday afternoons in the garden or in the mountains
• Having very little to do and being able to breathe deeply
• Speckwurst (sausage filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon = wunderbar!)
• The abundance of music
• Hanging out with Sammy and the other dear friends I’ve made
• Having my laundry done for me

Things I miss:
• Family and friends
• Cruising around, indulging myself with music
• Sitting at Barnes and Noble for hours
• Not having to pay at least 30% more for everything
• Oddly enough, Arkadelphia
• Being able to communicate with everyone

In these days as we anticipate the birth of our Savior, may we allow ourselves to be overcome by the implications of the Incarnation.

This was written outside a church and it echoed in my soul:
Mein Vater, ich verstehe Dich nicht, aber ich vertraue Dir.

My blogging infrequency has been steadily increasing. I just haven’t had too much to say as of late. By the way, thanks for the book suggestions. I have my reading lined up for the next little bit. Now I just need a Barnes and Noble.

Something’s definitely wrong if there’s snow (well, ice) in Texas and we’re still above freezing here in Austria. Oh what a world. It needs to hurry up and snow so that I can go skiing before I leave.

Well my time here’s coming to a close. I have two more weeks left and then after an extremely long day of traveling, I’ll be home. It’s sad, but I’m getting ready to be back.

Tonight I’m going to the Krampus run. I’d try to explain it, but there’s no way to. I’ll just say that last Saturday I got whipped by a Krampus and it hurt extremely bad.

Bis bald.
